Carrie Underwood heading back to 'American Idol'

UnderwoodIs Carrie Underwood the most successful American Idol winner? The only other person who, in my opinion, a real case could be made for is Kelly Clarkson.

Regardless of which singer you believe has achieved more, neither one can be called anything besides a success.

Now Underwood will be returning to her former haunt, as she has been announced as performing her new single "See You Again" at next week's results show. The song was co-written by Underwood with Hillary Lindsey and David Hodges and is the fourth single off her 2012 album, Blown Away.

The last time Underwood appeared on American Idol was May 2012, when she performed "Blown Away" with her band.

Underwood is not the only former Idol personality to be coming hope in the next few weeks. Also announced to appear are season 11 veteran Colton Dixon, who will be performing with season-five runner-up (and the star of Smash ignore that, as I heard today that she is pretending that sinking ship does not exist) Katharine McPhee. Also performing soon will be One Republic, as well as Idol judge Keith Urban.

Underwood is currently finishing her Blown Away tour, which ends this May. Her appearance can be seen at 8 p.m. next Thursday on Fox.
