'Once Upon a Time' spinoff adds its Knave of Hearts

SochaABC is hard at work preparing its spinoff to Once Upon a Time, which will be Alice in Wonderland themed. While details of the spinoff are being kept pretty close to the network's chest at this point, it did announce its first cast member today.

Michael Socha, best known for his work on BBC's Being Human, will be joining the series as the Knave of Hearts. The Knave is considered a bit of a loner, as well as an adventurer, a heartbreaker and a man ready for any kind of action. While he talks a big game and likes to puff out his chest, he also is very loyal to people/things (this is Alice in Wonderland, after all) that are loyal to him, as well as very set on doing what he considers to be the right thing.

In Lewis Carroll's classic "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," we first meet the Knave when he is on trial for burglary. Alice helps defend the Knave.

Expect more casting news in the coming days, as the team behind the spinoff will be shooting a "teaser" in April to present to the network. Should the project move to pilot, it will shoot in July or August.

Crispin Glover played the role in Tim Burton's Alice movie recently.

Socha has also been seen in Homefront, This Is England and Casualty.
