Apparently Mad Men actor Jon Hamm has some harsh words for the celebudante movement in the April issue of Elle UK. In a leaked quote from the interview Hamm said: "Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f---ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly."
Sure, Hamm basically said what is on the tip of our tongues, but his name dropping and harsh directness was a bit over the top. After the quote made its way across the interwebs, the fandom braced for what would surely soon become an epic Twitter/Facebook/Media battle. Surprisingly though, Kardashian's response was cool-headed, intelligent, and made Hamm's attack look even more neanderthal in nature; proving she probably didn't write it herself.
"I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview," she wrote. "I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We're all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, 'stupid,' is in my opinion careless."
There is a lot of truth to her statement. For instance, Hamm didn't launch his career with an amateur porn tape. I'll let you decide whether or not that puts Kim K and Hamm in the same class, as she seems to suggest.
