The producers of Starz's Spartacus have let slip a few spoilerly casting tips for Season Three. Among them are infamous leader Julius Caesar and power-hungry general Marcus Crassus, who will be joining the show in a huge new story arc.
Australian actor Todd Lasance (Crownies) will play a young Caesar. His story arc will begin as Caesar begins his powerplay in the empire, using his finely honed skills as a warrior and strategist to do battle with the slave rebellion.
Simon Merrells (The Wolfman, Family Affair) will play Crassus. A wealthy Roman with his own aspirations for power, Crassus sees defeating Spartacus as a stepping stone to earning the power and respect necessary to cement his own rule.
In the meantime, expect Spartacus: Vengeance to continue dishing out the pain. The season has turned out to be a fantastic venture with a lot of grandeous fight sequences, but according to Starz the best is yet to come. Expect Spartacus to get even more violent and more bloody in the weeks to come.
