'Sons of Guns' getting fourth season

Sons of Guns

America certainly loves its guns, so it is no surprise that the Discovery Channel will be bringing back its reality series Sons of Guns for a fourth season. The series, which focuses on Red Jacket Firearms, a Louisiana company that makes custom guns, will return April 19 at 9 p.m. on the network.

Will Hayden, along with his daughter Stephanie and the others (Joe, Kris, Charlie, Flem and the rest of the staff) all are coming back.

The fourth season promises to look at some massive firepower, as a WWII handheld PIAT, a Russian cannon and an M36 tank will be introduced during the season.

Fans of the series will also remember Vince, a former employee who turns up and could spell trouble for the company, as he is involved with a competitor who wants to run Red Jacket out of business.

Sons of Guns drew some criticism following the elementary school shooting in Connecticut last December, as critics feel the series glorifies guns and makes them "cool." Another Discovery series that dealt with a similar topic, American Guns, was cancelled late last year. That had nothing to do with the shooting, however, as that ratings did very poorly in the ratings.

Are you a Sons of Guns fan? Excited to see it come back?

I'm Canadian. I enjoy shooting firearms. However, my country has certain Federal Laws and regulations in place to insure that gun ownership is (at least as) regulated like automobile ownership. Which only makes sense. Firearms and vehicles in the wrong hands can inflict grievous harm. Is it really such a horrible idea that firearm ownership and operation should be regulated like vehicle ownership and operation?
