Lifetime is scheduled to premiere an hour-long documentary paying tribute to singer-actress Cher’s mother Georgia Holt on May 6th. The documentary, called Dear Mom, Love Cher, will focus on Cher’s family history and contains interviews with mother Georgia Holt, daughters Cher and Georganne LaPiere Bartylak, and grandchildren Chaz Bono and Elijah Blue Allman.
Beginning with Holt’s childhood living in rural Akransas, the documentary will tell the story of the six “tumultuous” marriages that Holt lived through while helping daughter Cher to pursue her dream career. Featured in the documentary will be a never-before-seen performance with Holt and Cher, as well as re-mastered recordings of Holt singing that were taped more than three decades ago. These recordings will be released commercially later this year.
“This project started as a gift for my mom’s 86th birthday. Like most things in my family, it was initiated by my sister Georganne, who asked me if I could update mom’s album,” said Cher in a statement. “So I went big … I’m known in the family for doing that. My sister and I are proud of our mom and we want to share her with the world. My mom is exactly like Rocky. She never gives up!”
