'The Walking Dead' season 4 casting stark new character

While the third season of 'The Walking Dead' ended on a contentious note for many fans, the series isn't wasting any time preparing for its fourth year. Casting for season 4 has already started, and consequently we're starting to see some information regarding new characters.

Here's the first of what we assume will be several new faces: Roy Stark, a former army medic with a past that was dark even before the zombie apocalypse. Like Daryl (Norman Reedus), he's a loner, but unlike everyone's favorite redneck crossbowman, Roy is charismatic -- "he maintains a charming/self-deprecating/confident public face," according to TVLine. The character is described as being between early 30s and mid-40s.

There is no Roy Stark in the comics, although there are a certain number of parallels between this character's description and Abraham from the comics -- indicating that, despite some deviations, The Walking Dead might still be heading in the same general direction as the comic series.

No word yet on how Roy will be introduced.

What do you think? Are you interested in meeting this new character?

The Walking Dead will return in October for its fourth season on AMC.
