Veronica Mars fans are rejoicing today as Logan Echolls is coming back to town.
Jason Dohring, an original cast member of the series, was announced by show creator Rob Thomas as having signed on to return for the original movie.
"We now have three actors officially cast. Veronica. Logan and the waiter who says, 'Your check, sir,'" said Thomas. "Don't worry. We're busily working on bringing your favorites into the fold. As a Veronica Mars backer, you'll be the first to know."
The film was funded in part by Kickstarter and has since created a wave of excitement among fans of shows that died before their time in the hope that their beloved programs have some life left in them, such as Pushing Daisies.
The new film will take place years after Veronica's leaving town.
"But something big is about to bring her back home and back to her calling," Thomas said about the movie's premise. "My goal is to include as many of your favorite characters as possible. It is, after all, time for Veronica’s 10-year high school reunion."
The Kickstarter campaign raised $2 million to fund the movie, meeting its goal in under 12 hours. As of now, $4.4 million has been raised, with 10 days left in the Kickstarter window.
"The movie is outlined, but frankly, I needed to know how we were doing to figure out how to model the script and how to write it. There are very specific things that are going to be affected by what our budget is," Thomas added.
