TLC is recognizing the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination with a two- hour documentary.
The TV movie, called “Letters to Jackie” Remembering President Kennedy” is from Oscar- winning documentarian Bill Couturie. Twenty A- list celebrities will read poignant letters from then- first lady Jackie Kennedy in the two months after JFK’s assassination in November 1963.
Demian Bichir, Jessica Chastain, Chris Cooper, Viola Davis, Zooey Deschanel, Kirsten Dunst, Anne Hathaway, Allison Janney, John Krasinski, Melissa Leo, Laura Linney, Frances McDormand, Chloe Moretz, Mark Ruffalo, Octavia Spencer, Hailee Steinfeld, Channing Tatum, Betty White and Michelle Williams are among actors scheduled to read the letters in the film.
“Letters to Jackie” is co- produced by Amblin Television and the Couturie Company, and is exec produced by Amblin’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. It’s written, directed and produced by Couturie, and is based on “Letters to Jackie: Condolences From a Grieving Nation,” a book by Ellen Fitzpatrick.
Couturie received an Academy Award for his documentary feature “Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt,” with profiles of individuals on the AIDS Memorial Quilt. “Memorial: Letters from American Soliders” also got nominated for best documentary short subject.
