Stories like this make me feel old.
Tia Mowry-Hardrict (along with her sister and frequent co-star Tamera) rose to fame on the comedy series Sister, Sister during the mid '90s. Since then, she has appeared on The Game for seven years, as well as the reality series Tia & Tamera (I will give you three guesses what it is about - your first two guesses do not count).
Now Tia will be starring in a new comedy series on Nickelodeon called Instant Mom. The scripted series received a series order today and will air as part of Nick Jr.'s "NickMom" primetime programming block.
The series is a half-hour in length and a multi-camera program. It is the first original scripted series announced for the block and will premiere later this year, with repeats airing on Nick at Nite.
The series will follow Stephanie (played by Mowry-Hardrict) who marries and older man with three kids. She finds her world flipped upside down, as she learns how to be a stepmother while trying to maintain some sense of her former life. Michael Boatman will play her husband, Charlie.
Other announced cast members include Sheryl Lee Ralph, Sydney Park, Tylen Williams and Damarr Calhoun.
“Instant Mom is the perfect addition to our NickMom nighttime comedy block designed to let moms unwind from the day and laugh at the often hilarious experiences of parenthood,” said Bronwen O’Keefe, senior vice president of NickMom. “This show has a fantastic cast and at the center is Tia bringing all her warmth and talent to this funny and relatable character.”
