Christopher Abbott leaving 'Girls'

AbbottChristopher Abbott, who appeared on HBO's Girls during its first two seasons, will be leaving the show after he reportedly butted heads with Lena Dunham, the show's creator and star.
Abbott appeared in 12 episodes during the show's run thus far, playing Charlie, the on-again, off-again boyfriend of Allison Williams' Marnie Michaels. The couple reunited in the last episode of the second season, but obviously with this news their reunion will be short lived.

"[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show," his representatives said in a statement.

Abbott has a growing film career, as he was seen last fall in "Hello, I Must Be Going" opposite Melanie Lynskey, as well as SXSW film "Burma" and the upcoming film "The Sleepwalker."

This news does not look that great for Dunham. No matter what your thoughts on the series, it seems like it became a lightning rod for criticism last season and that Dunham is getting a reputation as someone hard to work with. This news does little to dispute that.

Will you miss Abbott?
