Ryan Murphy is on a roll, currently with three popular series on the air (Glee, The New Normal and American Horror Story) this television creator is looking to get yet another of his creations onto your television screen. Murphy’s latest drama is called Open, and he is creating and writing the project alongside Dexter co-executive producer Lauren Gussis. When it is picked up by a network (I don’t think there is any doubt that it will be, and soon) Open will likely be one of the largest cable sales of the year.
Described as a “modern and provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships,” Open is already drawing multiple bids from both premium cable networks and basic cable networks looking to get a bit of that Murphy magic onto their lineup. The drama, which was originally created by Michelle Ashford (The Pacific), is actually based on the Thomas Maier biography Masters of Sex: The Life and Time of William Masters and Virginia Johnson. William H. Masters and Virginia E. Johnson pioneered research into the nature of human sexual response and the diagnosis and treatment of sexual disorders and dysfunctions from 1957 until the 1990s.
Open will be Murphy’s first project with Fox 21, a division of 20th Century Fox TV where Murphy currently holds a rich overall deal.
Does Open sounds like something you would like to check out?
