MTV is stepping forward to pay for all funeral expenses following the unfortunate death of Buckwild star Shain Gandee early Monday morning. Gandee, 21, was found on Monday in his truck with two others a mile from his home near Thaxton Hollow in Sissonville, West Virginia. After hours of searching for the MTV star and his companions who had been our four wheeling, the three were found dead of what was later ruled to be accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.
Gandee’s cousin, Ashley Gandee Lewis, told EW yesterday that MTV is paying for the funeral service and burial, which has been scheduled for Sunday in Charleston, West Virginia. In an obituary posted by Lewis, Gandee was said to have “loved to four wheel, loved anything that involved mud, wheels and motors.” Sadly, Gandee’s ultimate hobby ultimately lead to his death.
While Gandee’s funeral expenses are being taken care of, there is still the case of the more than $16,000 in burial expenses that are required to put to rest the other two men that died with Gandee (his uncle David, 48, and Donald Robert Myers, 27). Lewis has been soliciting for donations through the Gandee General Store Facebook page, but has only managed to raise $3,000 so far.
Production for the second season of the MTV reality series Buckwild has halted for the time being.
