Syfy has purchased a drama spec script & concept from screenwriter Alfonso H. Moreno. The spec is about a meteorite striking a plane; the only two survivors of the ensuing crash find themselves sleepwalking and waking up with no memory of their actions. Now on the run from the government for whatever actions they commited in their somnambulist state, they must figure out what happened to them after the crash and prove their innocence.
The project remains untitled (but 'Somnambulist' would actually be a pretty cool title; if anyone at Syfy likes it and wants to use it, you owe me a background role!) and is the latest idea from Moreno, screenwriter on such series as 'Drop Dead Diva,' 'The Guardian,' 'The Practice' and 'Made in Jersey.' This meteroite project is a departure from Moreno's comfort-zone of legal drama, working in a nice preternatural twist which should fit in nicely with Syfy's audience and target demographic.
The series is being produced by Ross Fineman's Fineman Entertainment, which previously brought you the 2011 series 'Lights Out' about a heavyweight boxing champion. Moreno and Fineman have a working partnership, so Fineman Entertainment came attached to the spec script delivered to Syfy brass.
What do you think of the concept for this untitled Moreno/Fineman project?
