'Go On' co-star Laura Benanti is a certified hot-property; Benanti has landed a recurring role on a second hit series, this time on the upcoming season of USA Network's 'Royal Pains.'
TVGuide.com reports that Benanti will join the fifth season of 'Royal Pains' as Shelby Shackelford, the dynamic new Senior VP of Acquisitions at Symphony Health Systems, a health care company trying to buy Hamptons Heritage Hospital. This puts Shackelford in opposition to 'Royal Pains' protagonist Hank (played by Mark Feuerstein)--her character is slated to act as a rival to Hank throughout the season. As described by USA: "An out-of-towner, Shelby comes to the Hamptons and brings an unexpected vision for the hospital — one that may mean new competition for HankMed."
Benanti stars on 'Go On' as Lauren, the leader of the group therapy that Matthew Perry's character attends, along with the rest of the ensemble comedy cast. Benanti is also recognizable for her acclaimed recurring role on 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' as Amaro's estranged wife.
Considering that the fourth season of 'Royal Pains' ended with a lot of focus on romance between Evan and Paige, could Benanti's Shackleford be a potential love interest for Hank, despite their opposing positions? Find out when 'Royal Pains' returns for a fifth season on June 12 on USA Network.
