'Hart of Dixie's Tim Matheson has been brought aboard 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' for a two-episode story arc that crosses the season 13 finale cliffhanger and the season 14 premiere.
The distinguished Matheson has regularly played judges, lawyers, senators and doctors throughout his impressive career (which has spanned over five decades) and he presently stars as Dr. Brick Breeland on 'Hart of Dixie.' Matheson appeared on such iconic American series as 'Leave it to Beaver' in the 1960s and never stopped working, having since appeared on 'The Virginian,' 'Bonanza,' 'Tucker's Witch,' 'Charlie Hoover,' and more recently on 'The West Wing' and 'Burn Notice.' On 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,' Matheson is slated to play a different kind of doctor... one who leaves corpses in his wake rather than reviving patients.
Matheson has won the role of Mr. Tate, a handsome, sophisticated and highly intelligent Ph.D. and M.D. who emerges as a suspect in a series of murders inspired by the "Divine Comedy," the classic 1300s Italian epic poem by Dante Alighieri.
Beyond an incredibly accomplished actor, Matheson is also a director; Matheson has been directing various television episodes since 2003, including episodes of 'Without a Trace,' 'Cold Case,' 'Criminal Minds,' 'Psych' and 'Burn Notice.' He also directed the season two finale of his own series, 'Hart of Dixie,' which will air later this year.
The season 13 finale of 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,' featuring Matheson as Mr. Tate, will air on May 15.
