Cheech Marin returning to TV on TBS pilot 'Do It Yourself'

Cheech Marin

Comedian, actor and writer Cheech Marin is heading back to television in a role on the new TBS pilot, Do It Yourself. Marin, who is known best for his role in 1978’s Up In Smoke, is no stranger to television. Marin has had a large number of guest roles and appearances on television shows, but has not landed a recurring role since his role as Fernando on the short lived 2012 CBS comedy series Rob. Marin’s most recent credits include an appearance on the reality television special I Get That A Lot and a guest role on Psych.

The TBS pilot, looking to get picked up for the fall, is about a down on his luck laid-off math teacher who has to resort to a job much below his skill level at Home Time, a big-box home-supply store. His co-workers will be played by Bill Engvall (Blue Collar Comedy), Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) and Melora Hardin (The Office), who has signed on as the boss of the group. Marin will also be playing a Home Time employee, an offbeat kind of fellow who goes by the name of Perez. Perez spends his days at the store making keys and his nights off preparing for an apocalypse he believes is impending.
