'Melissa & Joey,' a half-hour multi-camera sitcom built around familiar faces, is bringing two more familiar faces on board for a couple of episodes of their third season: Shannon Elizabeth and Marla Sokoloff.
'Melissa & Joey' airs on ABC Family and stars Melissa Joan Hart ('Sabrina the Teenage Witch') and Joey Lawerence (former pop musician and actor on 'Blossom'). Hart stars as Mel, a local politician who hires Joe to look after her niece and nephew when he needs an income. 'Melissa and Joey' has proven a ratings success for ABC Family, earning a viewer demographic that carries through teen years into adulthood, rather than one simply centered around childhood.
Shannon Elizabeth appears in the eighth episode of the third season as Mel's old college roommate, Anita. Anita seems well-intentioned, but over the years she's become annoying and Mel tries to find a way to get her out of her life. Elizabeth first became a star after he disrobing appearance in the summer hit comedy feature 'American Pie;' more recently she's appeared in feature films like 'Golden Winter' and 'A Green Story.'
Sokoloff appears one episode prior to Elizabeth's appearance in the seventh episode of 'Melissa & Joey's third season. Sokoloff plays Blythe, a smart and confident chiropractor who hits it off with Joe (Lawrence). While everything seems to be going well initially, Joe has second thoughts when he discovers a secret about Blythe. Given that 'Melissa & Joey' airs on ABC Family, expect a secret along the lines of "she never cleans her bathtub" as opposed to "she keeps torsos in the freezer."
Sokoloff first broke out as Lucy Hatcher on ABC's 'The Practice' for over one hundred episodes. More recently she's appeared in feature films 'The Chateau Meroux' and 'Scents and Sensibility.'
'Melissa & Joey' returns for a third season on May 29.
