Aly Michalka out of NBC's 'Undateable,' Briga Heelan to fill her role

Aly Michalka

Following a table-read for the upcoming NBC pilot 'Undateable,' one of the four main cast members, Aly Michalka, has exited the project for creative reasons. Michalka, best known for her roles in 'Easy A' and 'Hellcats,' was slated to play a friend of one of the undateable male characters, working at the same bar alongside him.

Written by Adam Sztykiel based on the book by Ellen Rakieten & Anne Coyle, 'Undateable' is described by NBC as a "bromantic comedy" rather than a romantic one, starring Chris D’Elia ('Whitney,' 'Workaholics') and Brent Morin ('Chelsea Lately'). The bromance of 'Undateable' occurs between HeelanDanny (D'Elia) and Justin (Morin) when they bond over the fact that they both repel the opposite sex. Michalka was cast as Maddie, friend of Justin, but reportedly that role will now be given to Briga Heelan.

The character description for Maddie explains that she is endlessly attracted to jerks and bad pickup lines but has a soft spot for Justin... or could it be something more? Now to be played by Briga Heelan ('Cougar Town,' 'Jane By Design'), Maddie is joined by Danny's sister Leslie (Bianca Kajlich), a divorced single mom who works as a wine rep to get free booze and meet guys. Leslie is described as a straight shooter who tells it like it is.

There's just one problem with the recasting: Heelan is already attached to the TBS pilot 'Ground Floor.' To skirt the red tape, Heelan will appear in the 'Undateable' pilot as a guest star and the future issues will be resolved depending on which of the two pilots--if either--are picked up by NBC and TBS, respectively.

As both of the show, Ground Floor & Undatable, are only 10 episodes long, there is no reason why Briga Heelan could not do both. They have different recording scheduals and as the first season of both shows have had her already doing both shows, why not keep it going.
Briga Heelan is a fantastic comical actress and SOOoooooo hot, MMMmmmmm.

But both shows are fun and entertaining and I for one hope they both keep going for several years. My only complaint would be there isn't enough episodes. I would like to see 5 episodes a week for 50 weeks a year, for both shows. Now that would be awasome :-)
