The co- creator of “Glee” and HBO are getting pretty serious.
Ryan Murphy and Lauren Gussis (“Dexter”) have received a pilot order for relationship drama “Open.”
Casting on “Open” begins immediately for a fall production start date.
“Open” is described as a “modern, provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships,” from Fox 21.
Murphy and Gussis wrote the pilot and will exec produce. Dante Di Loreto (“Glee,” “American Horror Story”) will exec produce for Ryan Murphy Television and 20th Television’s cable arm Fox 21.
Murphy, who is under an overall deal at 20th, has an adaptation of Larry Kramer’s Tony- winning ply “The Normal Heart” coming to HBO in 2014. Murphy will exec produce and direct “The Normal Heart,” and Jason Blum, Dede Gardner and Di Loreto will also exec produce.
Murphy has been nominated for seven Emmy Awards, and received one for Best Direction of a Comedy Series for “Glee” in 2010. His show “American Horror Story” has received 17 Emmy nominations, the most any FX show has ever received and ties for the most that any program has ever received. He also created, wrote and directed Golden Globe winner “Nip/ Tuck.”
