The upcoming NBC spinoff series of 'Chicago Fire' may not have a title yet, but it now has a fourth star to add to the cast: thirty-year old Kelly Blatz.
Blatz' recent television work was as Aaron Stone on the series 'Aaron Stone,' which he starred in for thirty-five episodes, as well ten episodes of 'Glory Daze' as Joel Harrington. He is also recognizable from the feature thrillers 'Prom Night' and 'From Within' (both 2008).
Blatz joins the recently-cast Melissa Sagemiller ('The Guardian,' 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'), Tania Raymonde ('90210,' 'Switched at Birth') and Scott Eastwood ('Trouble with the Curve,' 'Texas Chainsaw 3D') in the spinoff series which follows a group of Chicago police officers, with proposed crossovers with the 'Chicago Fire' cast.
The upcoming first season finale of 'Chicago Fire' will feature some of the actors named, including Blatz, as the stage is set for the spinoff to begin next season. Blatz will play the young but seasoned Officer Elam, one of the leads of the upcoming police series. As of yet there is no official word on which, if any, of the 'Chicago Fire' cast would be transported over to the new police series, however Jon Seda's recurring role as Chicago PD Detective Antonio Dawson makes him a natural selection for such a move. Deadline reports that Seda's joining the spinoff is a strong possibility.
Despite technically not having ordered this spinoff project, NBC now has four cast members signed, a potential fifth waiting in the wings, as well as a finale episode of 'Chicago Fire' planned as a launching point; it seems all but decided that this unnamed spinoff will receive the greenlight in the coming days.
