Discovery announces 'Blade Brothers' premiere date

BbDiscovery Channel wants you to learn about knives. Specifically, about Todd Begg, a legend in the knife-making industry.

It will premiere Blade Brothers, a new series that looks at Begg's life, next Friday at 10 p.m. EDT/PDT with back-to-back half-hour episodes. The episodes are being paired with the season premiere of Sons of Guns (as it starts its fourth season).

Begg, who has made custom knives for more than 20 years, will be seen opening a new shop in Northern California in the series. The knife maker, who is very sought after for his expert work, will be having his brothers Mark and John assist him in this new venture. Todd, who has a six-year (!) backlog of orders, hopes that his brothers being aboard will make it easier for him to cut into his backlog. The problem with this is that neither John nor Mark know anything about knives.

John worked in the oil and gas industry for 20 years after leaving the Army, while Mark has experience as a model. I am not a knife making expert, but I would imagine that the former drill sergeant adapts faster to the business than Zoolander does.

Paired together with Sons of Guns, which looks at a custom gun-making company in Louisiana, it seems like Discovery is now your home for unique weapons.
