Glinda the Good Witch is coming to CBS.
Kristin Chenoweth, who played the character in the initial Broadway run of "Wicked," has signed on to star opposite fellow Broadway alum Matthew Broderick in CBS' new Tad Quill comedy pilot, which is not currently named.
In the multi-camera series, Broderick stars as Jack, a recent widow who struggles with raising his 12-year-old son while attempting to get back on the dating scene and regain his mojo.
Chenoweth will be playing Marnie, who is Jack's waitress sister and is described as being "cute" and "judgmental."
Quill, who worked on Scrubs, will be writing and executive producing the project for CBS Television Studios. James Burrows is also attached, as he will be directing.
Chenoweth won a supporting actress Emmy in 2009 for her work on Pushing Daisies. She has also guest starred on CBS' The Good Wife and Fox's Glee, as well as served in the starring role on ABC's GCB.
She also is a successful singer, having released four CDs under the Sony label - "Let Yourself Go," "As I Am," "A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas," and "Some Lessons Learned."
Does this sound like a show you would watch? It definitely seems like CBS thinks it will go to series, given the talent attached.
