Here is story I don’t think my 5 year old self would approve of. Sheryl Leach, the woman who created the beloved television series Barney & Friends, is being sued by a man who was allegedly shot in the chest by her son. Leach first created and launched the Barney series with a home video release in 1988, and went on to create the Barney & Friends series in 1992.
Leach’s son, 27-year-old Patrick Leach, was charged with attempted murder back in February. Leach was accused of shooting a man, Eric Shanks, in the chest outside a home in Malibu. Now, Shanks is turning his attention to Sheryl Leach, whom he feels is partly responsible for the incident through negligence. Shanks is suing Leach for negligence on the basis that she should have not allowed her son, who lives with her, to own a gun due to an alleged history of violent tendencies.
Shank, who is also suing Patrick Leach for assault and battery, told police that Patrick Leach shot him from a car that was parked in front of Sheryl’s home. Patrick Leach has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder charge and was released on a $1 million bond.
I love you, you love me. We’re a happy family….or not.
