In her first leading role since Desperate Housewives wrapped up last May, Eva Longoria has been cast as the lead in a new series. This time, Longoria will be lending her vocal talents to a half-hour animated comedy series called Mother Up, which will debut on Hulu and Canada’s City Television in the fall.
Longoria will be voicing the main character, Rudi Wilson, and once again Longoria will find herself living in the suburbs. Rudi Wilson is a former record executive who decides to move to the suburbs and see if she can hold her own in the world of motherhood. What Rudi finds is that her hard-partying lifestyle, frequent drinking and tendency to use profane language don’t necessarily gel with the lifestyles of her neighbours in the suburbs.
Longoria has kept herself busy since her long-time gig on Desperate Housewives came to a close last year, but she has been behind the camera more than she has been in front of it. Longoria is an executive producer on the new NBC dating show Ready for Love as well as on Lifetimes upcoming drama Devious Maids. Longoria will be using her executive producing skills on the set of Mother Up as well, alongside Sony Pictures Chief Yair Landau and Family Guy co-producer Michael Shipley.
