ABC postpones 'Castle' episode in light of Boston tragedy

Castle

Next Monday's episode of the hit series 'Castle' is being pushed from Apr 22 to Apr 29 in light of the tragedy at the Boston Marathon, as the episode in question features a bombing plot.

The episode, titled "Still," features Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) accidentally stepping on a pressure-sensitive explosive device; the remaining characters are launched into a desperate search for a way to disarm it and save Beckett's life. In place of "Still," ABC will run the episode originally intended to launch on Apr 29, entitled "The Squab And The Quail." While no details have been released regarding "The Squab And The Quail," one can assume the episode is bombing-free.

While this move is being done out of respect for the victims of the Boston tragedy, the episode is only being pushed back seven days. It is likely that those who would have been offended by the plot on Apr 22 will still be offended by it come Apr 29.

While Boston remains under lockdown, denizens of the metropolis have been asked to remain indoors and forego any plans this evening. The Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox games will likely be postponed, although no official word has been given from the NHL nor the MLB at the time of writing.

'Castle' is in its fifth season, featuring twenty-four episodes.

To update what rtruell posted for anyone who may not be aware, the second suspect has indeed been captured and is now in police custody.

"While Boston remains under lockdown, denizens of the metropolis have been asked to remain indoors and forego any plans this evening."

Adam, I don't know if you didn't mention it because you hadn't heard yet or because it really doesn't have anything to do with "tv", "entertainment" or the postponing of the Castle episode, but since you mentioned the ongoing lockdown in Boston and the possible cancellation of sporting events, I thought I'd mention the latest news for anyone that hasn't heard.  An MIT campus police officer was shot and killed in his car on-campus about 10:30pm ET Thursday, apparently by one or both of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.  Additionally, one of the suspects has since been shot and killed by police, while the other one is still at large (www dot usatoday dot com/story/news/nation/2013/04/18/mit-shooting-cop-massachusetts/2095733/ for the story).

Hopefully they'll catch/kill the remaining suspect soon, and Boston can start getting back to normal.
