MTV has renewed its late-night talk show series, Nikki & Sara Live, for a second season.
What is interesting about the news is that the show's stars, comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer, learned the news not from the network, but rather from talk show host Katie Couric, who was interviewing the duo for her daytime talk show, Katie, when she broke the news.
After Couric dropped the news, Schaefer pressed the issue, asking Couric if she was telling the truth. Glaser, on the other hand, responded that, "I need to text my mom!”
The goal as of now is for a mid-summer premiere for the show's 12-epsiode second season.
The show mixes pre-recorded sketches, man-on-the-street segments, analysis of popular culture and celebrity interviews. The first season of the show featured guest appearances by celebrities such as Community's Allison Brie and American Idol winner Phillip Phillips.
Glasser and Schaefer each took interesting roads to the show, with Glasser competing in 2006's Last Comic Standing, while Schaefer was a blogger for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. She won two Emmy Awards for her work there, in the Creative Achievement in Interactive Media category.
The two ladies also host a podcast called "You Had To Be There."
