The next season of American Horror Story is going to be a little more Precious.
Gabourey Sidibe, who played Precious in the film of the same name (for which she was nominated for an Academy Award), has joined the upcoming third season of the FX horror anthology series, according to showrunner Ryan Murphy.
"Thrilled to announce Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is joining the cast of 'American Horror Story: Coven,' " Murphy tweeted.
It is not known whom Sidibe will be playing, at this point in time. She will be joining Kathy Bates as new cast members joining with Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga.
Sidibe has been seen most recently on Showtime's The Big C, where she plays Andrea, a fashion student. That program is beginning its final four episodes tonight.
Details about Coven are scarce at this point. All that is known is that the program will film in multiple locations, including New Orleans, and that the producers are looking for haunted places in America. Three characters will be portraying real people, including Bates.
"It's a really cool story that we've been talking for a couple years, and this seemed to be the year to do it," Murphy said earlier this year.
