Chris Hardwick has landed a choice gig at Comedy Central.
The Viacom-owned network announced that Hardwick, who currently hosts Talking Dead on AMC after The Walking Dead airs, will be hosting a midnight panel talk show hosted by the comedian, in conjunction with Funny or Die. The program will launch this fall and air after The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
The news is not shocking. Rumors have gone around for some time that the network was considering it, with The Jeselnik Offensive's Anthony Jeselnik rumored at one time to be attached to host. He talked about that earlier this year with website Grantland, saying that (when asked about the show), "We did, and it killed, it was great. It was going to be a monologue, a short piece, and the rest of it was panel. They said they loved it, but then the budget changed, and they decided not to do a midnight show."
Times change, I guess.
Hardwick will also be a producer on the program, which is being run by Reno 911! creators/stars Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Grant.
Hardwick last appeared on Comedy Central in a standup special, which aired in late 2012.
What do you think of this new idea for a program? Something you would watch?
