'Major Crimes' gets four more episodes, 'Perception' gets one

A TNT series has gotten upgraded in its number of episodes.

Major Crimes

“Major Crimes” has been given four more episodes from the network, bringing it to 19 episodes.

The “Closer” spinoff only had 10 episodes in its first season.

Meanwhile, “Perception,” which is also going into its second season on TNT, has been given one more episode, bringing it to 14 episodes.

Season two of “Major Crimes” debuts June 10. “Perception’s” second season begins June 25.

“Major Crimes” scored basic cable’s most-watched series launch ever when it debuted last August. It didn’t hurt that it followed “The Closer’s” series finale, however. Season one of “Major Crimes” averaged nearly 7 million viewers, making it cable’s No. 1 new series last year.

“Major Crimes” stars Mary McDonnell (“Donnie Darko”), G.W. Bailey (“M*A*S*H”), Tony Denison (“Crime Story”), Michael Paul Chan (“Falling Down”), Raymond Cruz (“Havoc”) and Phillip P. Keene (“The Closer”).

On “Major Crimes,” Captain Raydor(played by McDonnell) takes over the Los Angeles Police Department after Chief Johnson’s (Kyra Sedgwick’s character on “The Closer”) departure.

“Perception” stars Eric McCormack (“Will & Grace”), Rachael Leigh Cook (“Josie and the Pussycats”), Kelly Rowan )”The O.C.”) and Arjay Smith (“The Journey of Allen Strange”). McCormack plays a schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist who helps the FBI with difficult cases.

Perception is a really great show and I hope it sticks around for several seasons more. The reveal in the season finale totally blew me away. Very well written and actec. If you haven't seen it, catch up before season 2 starts.
