'Game of Thrones' star Emilia Clarke to guest on 'Futurama'

Emilia Clarke

Following the sad news that Futurama has been cancelled, there is still a light at the end of the tunnel. For Game of Thrones and Futurama fans, an exciting cross-over between the series will bring the voice of Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) to the penultimate episode of the futuristic animated series. Welcome to the world of tomorrow, Khaleesi!

Clarke is on board to play the voice of a new love interest for, get ready for this, Dr. Ziodberg. Clarke’s character is a flower stand owner who was born with no sense of smell, which can only be a bonus for anyone looking to make a love connection with Zoidberg.

Futurama executive producer David X. Cohen says that the flower store owner’s lack of scent receptacles turns out to be both a source of joy and strife to Dr. Zoidberg. “She falls in love with Dr. Zoidberg — the smelliest character on Earth in the future — but she can’t smell him, so it’s a match made in heaven,” says Cohen. “However, being a doctor, he has the opportunity to perform a nose transplant and give her a sense of smell, which would destroy their romance, so it’s a big dilemma.”

Futurama will officially end its seventh season on September 4th after the decision was made by Comedy Central to not order any further episodes.
