Haley Joel Osment, best known for his role in 'The Sixth Sense' way back in 1999, has joined the stellar cast of IFC's upcoming miniseries 'The Spoils of Babylon.'
After America's love-affair with the child-star came to a close following 'Pay it Forward' and 'A.I.: Artificial Intelligence,' Osment has worked mainly as a voice-over talent, appearing in the hit video game series "Kingdom Hearts." Recently Osment has cracked back into feature films, appearing in 'I'll Follow You Down' and 'The Misadventures of the Dunderheads' in 2012. His recent series work includes an appearance in the pilot 'Alpha House' opposite John Goodman.
'The Spoils of Babylon' is a project with an awful lot of buzz: the upcoming six-episode series from IFC is being produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Funny Or Die. Described as being in the same vein as 'Winds of War,' 'The Spoils of Babylon' chronicles the sexy and dramatic lives of the Morehouse family who made their fortune in the oil business. It centers on Devon Morehouse (played by Tobey Maguire, 'The Great Gatsby'), who as an orphaned child was taken in by future oil magnate Jonas Morehouse and his daughter, Cynthia (played by Kristen Wiig, 'MacGruber'). Devon and Cynthia now run Morehouse Enterprises together while fighting their feelings for each other.
Osment will play Winston, the devilish son of Cynthia. Consumed with a reckless ambition for power, she raised her son to worship at the same alter, and now he begins to insert himself in the family business.
This project keeps getting bigger and better; we'll have more as it develops.
