After suffering through an increasingly stagnant season, with this week’s latest episode pulling in the lowest ratings yet, American idol representatives are reportedly already looking for a fresh new face to grace the judges table next season.
Harry Connick Jr. would bring a touch of class to the judges table that, perhaps, it is in dire need of after this season’s constant cat fight between Mariah and Nicki. Harry Connick Jr. has been a recent guest mentor on Idol, and his appearance has left an impression on Idol talent scouts. The judges’ panel is not usually cemented in place until after the current season ends, but Connick Jr. himself says that he has already been approached to take a seat at the table next season.
“You know, they kinda wanted to know if I would be interested in it,” Connick Jr. said. “It’s been talked about before, who knows what’ll happen in the future.” Connick Jr. went on to say that he has a few other pressing commitments coming up this year that would make it difficult for him to be a stable fixture on the show. “I’m going on tour this year so, like, when would I do it? It’s that kind of thing,” says Connick Jr.
Do you think another change of judges could revive Idol’s ratings free-fall next season? Would you like to see Harry Connick Jr. as a judge on the show?
