Scandal, an ABC thriller set in Washington, D.C., has become something of a hit for the network since its debut in April 2012. Starring Kerry Washington (Django Unchained) as Olivia Pope, a crisis management expert, Scandal nears the conclusion of its second season and things are about to get insane.
Mellie (Bellamy Young) has made Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) extramarital affair public knowledge, in an attempt to get her time in the spotlight. Meanwhile, Olivia works with her team at OPA to try and figure out who the mole is. Olivia and Fitz only recently reunited but it appears that reunion will be short lived.
Shondra Rhimes, the Scandal showrunner, recently talked about what is coming up for the program and, from what she said, viewers had better buckle up.
"It's a big game-changing thing that Mellie did. Everything has been under wraps and it's all been very hush-hush until this moment. Fitz's declaration also changed the fabric of the show as well. Everything is turned on its end at the end of Thursday's episode. And next week, nothing is the same," she said.
Rhimes said cast members, upon learning who the mole was, reacted in an odd manner.
"When we revealed who the mole was to the cast, cast members literally got up from the table and ran around the table screaming, which was hilarious. Then when we revealed the twist on the twist of who the mole was, I thought I'd have to sedate cast members because people were freaking out, which was awesome. It's not just who the mole is, it's who the mole is working with and what's going on there that's even bigger than just who the mole is. We're really proud of who the mole is, that's a pretty surprising twist but it's even bigger than that," she said.
Call it - who is the mole?
