The name may not immediately register, but Melora Hardin was a big part of the success that NBC had with The Office.
Hardin played Jan Levinson, the on-again, off-again girlfriend of Michael Scott (Steve Carell). For a time it seemed that Levinson might be the one for Michael, but that was quickly revealed to not be the case. Later on Holly Flax (Amy Ryan) showed up and Michael found his true soul mate, leading to a fantastic episode where he proposed to Flax, leading to Scott's departure from Scranton for Colorado and a new life. Since that time, Jan has appeared briefly, but it is not the same.
In what is to be a series, current stars and previous ones from The Office's life are giving video farewells to the show. Hardin is the biggest ex-cast member to appear thus far.
"I don't mind crying," she said in discussing the end of the show. "It's OK...I just love Jan and I'll miss her. I'll say goodbye for now. Thank you all. Cast, crew -- everybody for a beautiful, fantastic, hilarious, wonderful journey. It will live forever in my heart ... and it will live forever on film. I really feel grateful I was a part of it."
