The popular HBO fantasy series, True Blood, will be adding another cast member for its fifth season. Camilla Luddington, who is known for portraying Kate Middleton in the Lifetime movie William and Kate, will be playing the role of Claudette. Claudette is a fairy, and one of Claude's (Giles Matthey) sisters.
Claudette's character is joining the show to act as as mentor to Sookie (Anna Paquin). Sookie, the show's main character, is a telepathic waitress who lives in Bon Temps, a fictional city in Lousiana where vampires, fairies, and other supernatural creatures all co-exist with humans. During the third Season, Sookie enters the fairy realm during a coma of sorts, and ultimately learns that she is actually part fairy herself. This offers a new set of challenges and advantages for Sookie, and Claudette will be on-hand to offer advice to Sookie. Sookie now knows that her blood is more attractive to vampires than human blood, which makes her a target for attacks, and could certainly use the help of a mentor. On the show True Blood, the vampires can co-exist with humans due to a synthetic blood product, called "Tru Blood," but drinking fairy blood provides protection from the sun and produces an intoxicating effect for the vampires.
Luddington is relatively new to the acting world, as her first public appearance was in 2007. Three years later, the actress started receiving roles on a number of shows including The Forgotten, CSI: Crime Investigation, Days of our Lives, and Disney's Big Time Rush. Her most recent television appearance was on the Showtime series, Californication, playing the role of a nanny, named Lizzie. Luddington is expected to have great success on True Blood and is definitely an actress to watch. The Daily Mail commented on her role as Kate Middleton, saying that she is "on the path to fame and fortune."
The fifth season of True Blood is set to premier this summer.
