It was a sad day when “Gilmore Girls” ended after seven successful seasons in 2007. Fans enjoyed watching the everyday lives of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. Their fast-talking ways, their romances, their drama and their love for one another claimed a spot in everyone’s hearts. Well, have you ever wondered what happened to the Gilmore’s, and the other loveable Stars Hollow characters? Well, now you don’t have to. See where most of the cast of “Gilmore Girls” is today.
1. Character: Lorelai Gilmore
Actress: Lauren Graham
Undoubtedly, Lauren Graham’s career had no problem continuing after “Gilmore Girls” came to a close. Soon after, she starred in several films including “Evan Almighty,” but in 2010 she made her TV comeback as Sarah Braverman on NBC’s “Parenthood.” She also made a love connection on the series, and currently dates co-star/TV brother Peter Krause. In 2012, she also guest starred alongside Matthew Perry on NBC’s “Go On.” Most recently, the actress added author to her resume with the release of her new fiction book, “Someday Someday Maybe.” As hard as it was to see Lorelai Gilmore say goodbye, it’s always a wonderful night when she reappears on our televisions as Sarah Braverman.
2. Character: Rory Gilmore
Actress: Alexis Bledel
She started out as the loveable bookworm of Stars Hollow, but Alexis Bledel has definitely broadened her horizons. In 2008, she once again starred as Lena Kaligaris in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” with a few other roles here and there. What really put her back on the acting map was her 2012 guest role as Beth Dawes on AMC’s “Mad Men.” She’s probably grateful she took the part, as that’s where Bledel met her future husband, Vincent Kartheiser. As of late, Bledel appeared alongside Zachary Levi in the Hallmark movie “Remember Sunday.”
3. Character: Luke Danes
Actor: Scott Patterson
Who doesn’t miss grumpy Luke Danes? After Scott Patterson left the beloved diner owner behind, he starred in The CW’s 2008 comedy “Aliens in America,” then moved to “90210” and then starred as Michael Buchanan in NBC’s “The Event,” until 2011. Ever since then, Patterson hasn’t been spotted on too many TV shows.
4. Character: Sookie St. James
Actress: Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy went from The Dragon Fly’s chef to an Oscar nominee. Two years after the hit series ended, McCarthy starred alongside Christina Applegate in the ABC comedy “Samantha Who?” but the show only lasted two years. In 2010, she found success as lead actress in CBS’ “Mike & Molly,” which eventually earned her an Emmy win. Then in 2013, she made headlines as Megan in “Bridesmaids,” and even scored an Oscar nom for the part. She definitely has had a successful career.
5. Character: Lane Kim
Actress: Keiko Agena
Keiko Agena earned her fan following as music lover Lane Kim, but where has she been since the ending of “Gilmore Girls”? Well, she made several television appearances including “Private Practice,” “ER,” “Castle” and “House.” Most recently, she starred in “Scandal” and in the Showtime hit “Shameless” as Brittany Sturgess. Agena will also reportedly star in the upcoming ABC Family mystery series “Twisted.” She will play April Tanaka, a bohemian grief counselor.
6. Character: Emily Gilmore
Actress: Kelly Bishop
Emily Gilmore was truly insufferable, but of course that was her character and not who Kelly Bishop really is. Since the series finale, she’s had plenty of TV time like “Army Wives,” Law & Order: SVU” and “Mercy.” It looks like Bishop couldn’t stay away from “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, because she now stars on her recent creation, “Bunheads.” Bishop plays Fanny Flowers, the owner and instructor of a dance studio, which hits close home for Bishop as she starred in the original production of Broadway’s “A Chorus Line.”
7. Character: Richard Gilmore
Actor: Edward Herrmann
Edward Herrmann definitely has been a part of the acting world for quite some time, so it’s no surprise that he snagged quite a few acting roles after “Gilmore Girls.” In 2007, he starred on the ABC hit drama “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. Norman Shales; in 2011, he played Reverend Phillips on Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva;” and in 2010 he made a name for himself as Lionel Deerfield on CBS’ “The Good Wife.” It’ll be interesting to see which role he takes on next.
8. Character: Dean Forester
Actor: Jared Padalecki
Like Rory, fans fell hard for Dean Forester. In real life, fans still fall hard for Dean’s originator, the gorgeous Jared Padalecki. Today, Padalecki is adored and recognized for playing hunter Sam Winchester on The CW’s “Supernatural.” He will probably forever be “Sam” and “Dean” (ironically his current TV brother is named Dean i.e. Jensen Ackles) to his fans. Also, since “Gilmore Girls,” Padalecki got married to actress Genevieve Padalecki (nee Cortese) and had a son, Thomas Colton, in 2012. Padalecki has definitely grown up since his Dean days; just take a look at the above photo.
9. Character: Logan Huntzberger
Actor: Matt Czuchry
He might not have gotten the girl in the end, but one thing remains true and that is Matt Czuchry is a great actor and he continues to make a name for himself in the acting world. After “Gilmore Girls,” his first TV appearance was on “Friday Night Lights” as Chris Kennedy. What really put Czuchry back on the acting map is his role as lawyer Cary Agos on “The Good Wife.” Czuchry is really good at playing a man in a suit, and who likes to dictate authority over others.
10. Character: Jess Mariano
Actor: Milo Ventimiglia
Milo Ventimiglia was the quintessential bad boy of the series who stole Rory’s heart. Fans know how that ended. Anyway, even while “Gilmore Girls” was still filming Ventimiglia starred in other TV productions like “The Bedford Diaries” and “Heroes.” He’s also taken on several movies roles such as “Pathology,” “Gamer” and “Rocky Balboa,” where he played Rocky Balboa, Jr. Next, fans can expect to see him in “Grace of Monaco” where he plays Rupert Allan and Nicole Kidman plays Grace Kelly.
11. Character: Paris Geller
Actress: Liza Weil
Liza Weil played the overbearing, sometimes obnoxious, perfectionist Paris Geller. Even though viewers hated her at first, she grew to become another member of the loveable cast. After the series end, Weil went on to star in several TV series like “Private Practice,” “In Plain Sight” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” In 2012, she scored a recurring role on the hit drama “Scandal” as Amanda Tanner; and like Kelly Bishop, Weil has also starred in several “Bunheads” episodes as Milly Stone. She is currently married to “Private Practice’s” Paul Adelstein. They have one child.
12. Character: Zack Van Gerbig
Actor: Todd Lowe
Last, but not least, we have Todd Lowe who played musician Zack Van Gerbig and hubby to Lane Kim. Ever since “Gilmore Girls,” he’s appeared on some major shows. “NCIS” viewers know him as NCIS Special Agent Chad Dunham, and the “True Blood” audience knows him as Terry Bellefleur. Lowe also stars in “Ave 43,” a successful web series.
For those wanting to relive their “Gilmore Girls” days, ABC Family still airs the series everyday at 11 a.m. EST.
