MTV announced 2014 award show airdates

MTV realizes how important your time is, so the network has gone ahead and revealed the airdates of its two marquee annual award shows for 2014. Now you can go ahead and plan around them!

On Sunday, April 13, MTV will air its celebration of Hollywood when it airs the MTV Movie Awards. The most recent MTV Movie Awards aired this year already and was hosted by Rebel Wilson. It was the first time MTV has aired the show before June, as it wants to help kick start the summer movie season. The move seemed to work out well for the network, as it drew more than 3.8 million viewers and a 21 percent larger audience in the network's 12-34 target demo than the 2012 version did.

On Sunday, August 24 (2014 still), MTV brings its Video Music Awards to air (there are rumors they will even air a video or two). This year's MTV Video Music Awards iare scheduled for August 25 and will be broadcast from Brooklyn's new Barclays Center (which by law means Jay-Z will be involved in the awards in some fashion.

Are either of these events "must-see" TV for you? I used to watch the Movie Awards, but that was more habit than really enjoying the show.
