Justin Bartha, the star of NBC's The New Normal, is scheduled to be honored at the 2013 West Coast Liberty Awards.
The event is scheduled for June 13 and is hosted by Lambda Legal, which is the United States' largest legal organization. It works towards protecting and getting recognition for the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender people, as well as people living with HIV or AIDs. The award show is its annual gala that recognizes people who are committed and work towards meeting Lambda's vision of equality.
“I was very touched when I found out that Lambda Legal wanted to honor me at their West Coast Liberty Awards,” said Bartha. “I am happy to help in the fight for equality in any way I can whether that be personally or professionally on a show like The New Normal.”
Bartha is starring in the upcoming film CBGB and will be making his tradition five minute appearance in the next Hangover film later this summer.
Also scheduled to be honored at the awards show are Magic Johnson and his foundation, for their work in the HIV/AIDs fight.
Lance Bass will host the event. Members of this year's honorary committee include Lily Tomlin, Alison Pill, Joshua Malina, Bellamy Young, Michael Steger, Jai Rodriguez, Sara Rue, Grant Bowler, Rex Lee, Garcelle Beauvais, Janina Gavankar and Tony Denison.
