CBS cancels 'CSI:NY,' 'Rules of Engagement,' 'Golden Boy,' 'Vegas'

CBS has started to swing the ax at existing series.

Rules of Engagement

Veterans “CSI: NY” and “Rules of Engagement” are among shows officially canceled. Freshmen “Vegas” and “Golden Boy” have also received their pink slips.

“Rules of Engagement” was a great utility player for the network for several years, as it plugged holes in CBS’ schedule on several occasions. The cast’s deals were up and the series had passed the 100-episode mark, so the network seemingly felt it was time.

Megyn Price directed a recent episode, which she recently told me in an interview would be a nice parting gift.

“CSI:NY,” which starred Gary Sinise, went nine seasons. Fellow spinoff “CSI: Miami” ended last season, and now only the original “Crime Scene Investigation” remains.

“Golden Boy” was a crime drama series starring Theo James and Chi McBride, about the rise of an ambitious cop. It was produced by Berlanti Television and Warner Bros. Television.

“Vegas” stars Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis (not to be confused with “Las Vegas,” which starred James Caan, Josh Duhamel and Vanessa Marcil) and was a period drama series set in the 1960s. Quaid played a sheriff and rancher and Chiklis a mobseter.

Golden Boy was ok, but Vegas is just to good , hopefully it will survive somewhere .... its a damn shame. And all the crappy comedies keep getting renewed... sigh ...

WTF? How can they cancel Rules of Engagement? Seriously, WTF?! It's one of the funniest shows around.

We all know how Golden Boy ends. That is why the show had no future.

cbs is getting as sucky as all the rest of the stations. really put on a couple more idiotic reality shows...just what we need. it's getting so i don't even want to start watching anything cuz they will only cancel it. cmon people do we really want to end up watching things like Splash or some other stupid show. lining up all the new series is a complete waste of time cuz nothing stays on more than a season if that. i'm ready just to stop watching cbs, nbc or abc or fox or any of the other mainstream channels

Yes, a shame about Vegas. And Golden Boy had more than potential (and I can't help thinking of Pushing Daisies whenever I see Chi McBride on it, which would bring a smile to my face)

CS:NY and Rules had their run. CSI:NY might deserve a proper ending, but it has had several "ending points" several years, so I guess we'll have to take it as it ended.
