CBS picks up 'Friends with Better Lives'

“Friends with Better Lives” has received a series order from CBS.

James Van Der Beek

“Friends with Better Lives” is written by Dana Klein and James Burrows will direct the multi- camera project from 20th Century Fox TV and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.

The deal reportedly came after 48 hours of negotiations led by Kaplan.

The show revolves around six 30- somethings who are friends and all think that each other have it better.

Zoe Lister Jones (“Whitney”) will play aggressive and self- absorbed Kate. She’s a big success in her career, but not so much in her dating life.

Other characters include Jules (played by Brooklyn Decker), a former model; Lowell (played by Rick Donald), a barefoot spiritualist; Andi Lutz (played by Majandra Delfino), a mother of an infant and three- year- old twins; her gynecologist husband Bobby (played by Kevin Connolly), and his best friend Will Stokes (played by James van der Beek), who is also a gynecologist and recently divorced after discovering his wife has cheated on him.

Other approved comedies by CBS include “Crazy Ones,” “We Are Men,” “The Millers” and “Mom.” Another, “Bad Teacher,” may still appear at the midseason.
