In some exiting news, EW has confirmed that Fox is officially bringing back Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) for more episodes of 24 in May of 2014. The series, which will be called 24: Live Another Day, will air during the summer and will consist of 12 episodes. Following the run of 24 will be Fox’s very first event series, a M. Night Shyamalan creation called “Wayward Pines”.
The idea of bringing back the series has been in the back of 24 producer’s minds for quite some time, but when it came down to it, it was easier said than done. Producers had “always had the idea of maybe someday doing feature films, but as they got into it they all agreed 24 being compressed in two hours is not 24,”said Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly. “A light bulb went off with (former Executive Producer) Howard Gordon. The spine of the 24 episodes is about 12 hours. Those were big events that occurred and little connective tissue in between.”
The big change with this new installment of 24 will be the time-span of each episode. In the regular series each episode represented a single hour in Jack Bauer’s life. In the new series, the episodes will instead jump around during the day. In addition, there is guaranteed to be a lot of familiar faces popping up in episodes. “A lot of who’s who in Hollywood wanted to participate in this,” Reilly said.
