MTV has announced the debuts of two series about young women following their hearts. And one has Jessica Simpson’s dad!
Joe Simpsons, Jessica’s meddlesome former pastor-turned music mogel father, will guide an all-girl pop music group in “The Alectrix.”
“The Alectrix” will debut June 4 at 11 p.m. and is executive produced by Heath Naylor (the group’s leader) and Simpson. Gary Auerbach, Julie Auerbach and Rob Cornick exec produce for Go Go Luckey Entertainment.
“The Alectrix” will be six episodes following Naylor as she and her group mates look for their big break in the music industry and then fulfill their dreams.
“South of Heaven” (which is a working title) is a half-hour docu-series that follows the lives of a group of crazy ladies at a honky tonk bar in Texas trying to fulfill their dreams. The series is slated to debut this fall.
“South of Heaven” is exec produced by Ross Breitenbach and 20 West, and Shannon Fitzgerald, Tiffany Lea Williams and Lesley Goldman for MTV. Its concept is by Andy Meyer. Tammy Zohar and Brittany Lutz will serve as executives in charge of production.
