Samantha heading to 'Carrie Diaries' in show's second season

TCDA familiar face to fans of HBO's 'Sex and the City' will be making her way to The CW's 'The Carrie Diaries' in the show's second season.

Samantha Jones, who becomes one of the best friends of Carrie Bradshaw, will appear on the 1980s set drama, which serves as a prequel to the HBO series. Viewers will learn how the ladies met and what sparked their friendship.

The role has not been cast yet. On 'Sex and the City', Samantha was played by Kim Cattrall.

Samantha will be the second 'Sex and the City' character introduced into Carrie's world on the show, after Stanford Blatch was brought up as being Bennett's roommate. Willie Garson played him on 'Sex and the City'.

"I know exactly how I would like to introduce each of the characters into the show and he's not going to be the only one, that's for sure," 'Carrie Diaries' executive producer Amy B. Harris said. "I know what I want season two to look like and who I think is showing up, but I always thought that Bennett and Stanford were probably roommates and that's how Carrie ends up meeting Stanford."

The CW has announced that the series is moving to Friday in the fall and that it will be paired with 'America's Next Top Model'.
