'Warehouse 13' renewed for fifth, final season

Syfy's "Warehouse 13" has experienced a bit of a rollercoaster year. Riding high from the network's recent season four expansion from 13 episodes to 20, it seemed a near certainty that the top rated adventure series would return.

However, in a classic good news/bad news situation, Syfy announced that it has given the greenlight to a fifth season. Unfortunately, season five will be its last, and the cast and crew will be tasked with wrapping things up in an abbreviated six-episode final season.

"'Warehouse 13' has been an incredible signature series for us," said Syfy President of Original Content Mark Stern. "We are grateful to the loyal and passionate fan base and know that Jack Kenny, his gifted creative team, and outstanding ensemble cast will give them an amazing finale season."

The series premiered in 2009 and slowly gained a loyal cult audience, gradually expanding to become the cable channel's consistently top-rated scripted series. With the addition of "Defiance" to Syfy's schedule, "Warehouse 13" was moved to a less audience-friendly time slot at 10PM, while promotional focus shifted to the new series as well.

Despite the shortchanged new season, star Eddie McClintock expressed optimism to fans over Twitter. "That you all for the 'Warehouse 13' love," McClintock tweeted. "Six episodes [are] definitely better than a 'get lost.' I promise we won't let you down."

It is sad that its over. W13 allowed the imagination to run wild, other shows have done this to some extent as well (Eureka, Alphas, Fringe). For some reason, W13 did it better.

Loved this show as well as i loved Eureka. Terrific actors and interesting plot. Too bad these good shows get killed but i guess it's better to end before they turn into c**p like HIMYM (NOT comparing the shows otherwise). Whats next, i love these humorous scifi series but they all seem to end when i get attached to them. Still angry about the cancellation on shows Firefly and Jericho :)

When I saw this was going the way of the Dodo, I was sad and now I'm a little happier because they are atleast going to finish the show and not just piss of us fans. But now the quetion is how are they going to keep us from beating them up and smashing there cars with bats and rocks? The simple solution is to introduce a new show that has a nice mix of Eureka, Warehouse 13, Terra Nova, Defiance & Primeval New World. A good Science Fiction show that has a nice touch of comedy, drama, adventure and even a little romance in it but something desined for the complete family and not just for the teenagers or just the adults. So either get the wrighters working or increase your car & health insurances, or maybe you should do both to be safe.

Watching this show has gotten hella tedious. The writing is horrible, and the acting is failing because of it.

The SyFy channel is run by strange agents. They abandon (cease promoting) well performing shows and then, when they falter, cancel them. I'd guess it has to do with the fact that the cast will start wanting raises soon, and it's easier for them to just make another show.

While never my favorite SyFy offering it's been definitely better than some of the crap they produced. In that sense it will be sad to see it go. At least they'll get the chance to wrap things up unlike many other series.

Neither W13 Nor Eureka should be/have been cancelled. They are both top-notch series. Defiance is good but its in a different category than the other two. They all have a place and for W13 and Eureka that place is to still be ongoing.

Who wants to bet on Warehouse 14 being created in the final episode?

They should have killed this and kept Eureka and don't even get me started on the dross that is Defiance.

So, essentially, after three 13-ep seasons, we get two more seasons that total 26 eps...
