Syfy's "Warehouse 13" has experienced a bit of a rollercoaster year. Riding high from the network's recent season four expansion from 13 episodes to 20, it seemed a near certainty that the top rated adventure series would return.
However, in a classic good news/bad news situation, Syfy announced that it has given the greenlight to a fifth season. Unfortunately, season five will be its last, and the cast and crew will be tasked with wrapping things up in an abbreviated six-episode final season.
"'Warehouse 13' has been an incredible signature series for us," said Syfy President of Original Content Mark Stern. "We are grateful to the loyal and passionate fan base and know that Jack Kenny, his gifted creative team, and outstanding ensemble cast will give them an amazing finale season."
The series premiered in 2009 and slowly gained a loyal cult audience, gradually expanding to become the cable channel's consistently top-rated scripted series. With the addition of "Defiance" to Syfy's schedule, "Warehouse 13" was moved to a less audience-friendly time slot at 10PM, while promotional focus shifted to the new series as well.
Despite the shortchanged new season, star Eddie McClintock expressed optimism to fans over Twitter. "That you all for the 'Warehouse 13' love," McClintock tweeted. "Six episodes [are] definitely better than a 'get lost.' I promise we won't let you down."
