FOX won the night in all measures.
The American Idol finale rose a very healthy six tenths from last week, but was also down three whole ratings points from last year's finale. This also marks the first year ever that the AI finale didn't reach the 20 million viewer mark. If ever there was a more concrete example of just how far Idol has fallen from its glory days, I have yet to see it.
The Big Bang Theory finale fell half a point to a 4.4, but still matched last year's season-capper. The two-hour Elementary finale rose only a single tenth to a 2.0. ABC's Wipeout fell three tenths to a new series low. Grey's Anatomy dropped a tenth for its finale, while Scandal's swan song very impressively matched last week's series high. Scandal is definitely a gigantic hit at this point.
The hour-long Office retrospective posted a 2.0 for NBC. The 75 minute Office series finale shot up to a 2.9 demo, easily a season high, and a nice way for the veteran comedy to go out. With a stronger lead-in than usual, Hannibal rocketed up a staggering six tenths to a 1.7. This may bode well for the show's future. The season finales of The Vampire Diaries and Beauty & The Beast both matched last week's numbers for The CW.
