Later this year, the FX network will split off a second channel called FXX. That move has caused the company to start loading up on new potential properties, which has helped lead to today's news that YouTube sensation Ray William Johnson had signed a deal with the company for a new comedy story that will be based on his life.
FX has given Johnson a script commitment.
Johnson rose to fame with his YouTube series =3, where he gives mean-spirited, snarky commentary on viral videos. His channel uploads new videos weekly and has 8.7 million subscribers and has more than 2 million billion views. He is YouTube's most subscribed to comic and does 50 million views a month.
He also recently was named to The Hollywood Reporter's Comedy Class of 2013.
No word yet if FX or FXX will air the show.
Andrew Waller and Mike Gagerman will write the script. They have worked before, with the upcoming feature film Road to Nardo being their brainchild.
Check out Johnson in action. Impressed? Does this make you interested in watching his FX series?
Personally, I cannot stand this guy and find him really annoying. Your mileage may vary, of course, but I have no interest in this at all.
Well @Ekerim, lets hope it works out for him then.

@Inkblot: It's not =3 that comes to FX, he sold a series "...based on his life.". He's getting creator credits, no word on if he is going to play himself. He's a midget sized troll so I guess they will recast him as a 6" jock :)

He talks too fast. He has the voice for youtube but his act needs polish. Tosh 3.0 we don't need.
I can live without him. Until your article I was not even aware of his existence.
