A terrible two-mile wide tornado swept through Oklahoma today, causing millions of dollars’ worth of devastation, with at least 10 people being reported dead at this moment.
CBS had decided to pull the Mike & Molly season finale from airing in light of this, as included a tornado in its story.
“Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight’s season finale of Mike & Molly, which has a related storyline," the network said in a statement.
The episode was scheduled to air tonight at 9:30 p.m. In the episode (which concluded the program's third season), a tornado hits Chicago.
This is CBS' official description.
"Mike and Carl get stuck working at the Renaissance Faire after their boss, Patrick, gets dumped by Mike's mother. later, as a tornado descends on Chicago, Mike and Molly each confess important news to each other."
A repeat will air instead. The tornado-themed episode will still air, at "an appropriate date," according to the statement released.
Mike & Molly was recently renewed by CBS for a fourth season and it will air as a midseason replacement.
Do you think CBS made the right decision or is it being too politically correct with this?
EDIT: The death toll has risen to at least 37. Our thoughts and prayers are with Oklahoma.
