In a huge change of pace for John Barrowman, the former Torchwood star has been tapped to host the new ABC competition series Sing Your Face Off. In addition to this, the show has also collected a star studded judging panel, including pop singer Debbie Gibson and former Saturday Night Live cast member Darrell Hammond.
Barrowman seems a strange choice for host of a reality singing competition as he is most known for his roles in sci-fi hits like Torchwood and Arrow. However, many of his U.S. fans may not know that Barrowman has some experience when it comes to hosting non-scripted shows. Back in the UK, Barrowman was a judge on the series How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? and Any Dream Will Do.
Sing Your Face Off, the latest addition to your weekly singing competition line-up, will feature five celebrity contestants adopting the persona of, and learning to perform hits from a different iconic music performer each week. The contestants lined up for the show are ex-Skid Row frontman and heavy metal singer Sebastian Bach, comedian Jon Lovitz, Toronto Raptors player Landry Fields, Disney Channel actress-singer China Anne McClain and former soap star Lisa Rinna.
The series, produced by Endemol USA and America’s Got Talent’s George Hurford, will run for six-episodes. The network has yet to announce an air date, but with production gearing up it is likely the show could see a summer debut.
