Yesterday the female lead actress was announced for Guillermo del Toro's (and Carlton Cuse's) new FX drama, The Strain. Now the program has added two more actors to the fold as momentum for the project is ramping up.
Jonathan Hyde (who appeared in Titanic as the scoundrel J. Bruce Ismay) and Richard Sammel (Inglorious Basterds) are climbing aboard.
Hyde will play Eldritch Palmer, an old, wealthy man who has risen to a lofty position in life in spite of the a frail body that has left him invalid since childhood. He refuses to allow that to stop him, however, and now focuses his time on becoming immortal - by any means. Given that The Strain deals with vampires, I am pretty sure you can do the math here and figure out what is going to happen.
Sammel, on the other hand, will play Thomas Eichorst, an enigmatic figure from Professor Abraham Setrakian's (uncast at this moment) past. Their crossing paths in New York City during the show is not accidental.
The show is based on a book trilogy that was published in 2009 and deals with a vampire virus that infects all of New York City. Other cast members include Mia Maestro, Kevin Durand and series star Corey Stoll.
Excited for this?
